Public Transport 

The Alex Theatre is located in the heart of St Kilda and is well-served by public transport.

Tram routes 

  • No. 16 from Swanston Street
  • No. 96 from Bourke Street
  • No. 12 from Collins Street
  • No. 3 from Swanston Street to Carlisle Street or Alma Road

Trams run every 10 minutes between 5:30am and 1:30am.

Parking

Limited street parking is available near the venue and is subject to time restrictions. We strongly recommend using public transport, rideshare services, or carpooling wherever possible.

  • St Kilda Sea Baths (10-18 Jacka Blvd)
  • Wilson Parking – 11-17 Jackson Street

Ticketing & Entry

Do I need a ticket to attend a performance at The Alex?
Yes, all events at The Alex Theatre are ticketed. Tickets must be purchased online in advance from an authorised partner. If not sold out, a small number of tickets may be available at the venue on the night. Read terms.

How do I access my tickets after booking?
Once you’ve completed your purchase, you’ll receive a confirmation email with a link to My Tickets.

To access your tickets

  • Click on My Tickets
  • Enter the email address used at purchase — a login link will be sent to your inbox
  • You can either download and print your PDF ticket or show the barcode on your phone at the door.

Can under 18s attend performances?
Due to the adult nature of many shows, the recommended minimum age is 15. Patrons under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

What if I can’t attend a performance?
We are unable to offer refunds unless required by law. In rare circumstances, a credit may be offered at the discretion of the promoter. Please refer to ticket terms and conditions at the time of purchase.

Can I reserve a table at The Alex?
The Alex Theatre does take table bookings for certain events. Please refer to your ticket type for details.

Can I bring my own food or drinks?
No. The Alex is a licensed venue and does not permit BYO food or beverages. We offer a selection of refreshments throughout your experience.

Do you offer catering services?
Yes. We work with local kitchens to provide a range of pre-order menu selections. Enquire when making your booking.

Can I hire The Alex for a private event or performance?
We are a multi-use venue with various spaces that may suit your needs. Please contact our team for more information.
